Leading Freshman & Juvenile Sire Wildcat Heir got his sixth maiden special weight winner from his debut crop on June 11th when Always Wildcatin’ drew off to a 3 ¼-length score in a $69,000 heat at Woodbine.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Always Wildcatin’ took command early as the heavy favorite and rolled to victory in the 4 ½-furlong event, stopping the timer in 51.77 over the local Polytrack. The flashy win by the promising chestnut colt moved his earnings to $42,405 for his owners Erv Woolsey and Keith Asmussen. In his first start in late April, Always Wildcatin’ fell just a nose short, and he now boasts a record of 1-1-0 from two races.

Not only was the victory Leading Freshman & Juvenile Sire Wildcat Heir’s sixth winner all in maiden special weight races, it was also his fourth Polytrack winner. He has sired impressive winners on Polytrack at Santa Anita, Arlington Park and Woodbine to go along with his dirt winners at Calder and Gulfstream.

Bred in Florida by Leprechaun Racing, Mgmt Inc., Always Wildcatin’ is out of the Twining mare Always Twining.
