Two-year-old filly 2010 Eclipse Award winner Awesome Feather was ranked at the top of the 2010 Experimental Handicap, at 123 pounds, when the Jockey Club released its list on Jan. 27. The bay filly is a daughter of Journeyman stallion Awesome of Course, who moved to Journeyman for the 2011 season.

The Experimental Free Handicap is published annually in late January by The Jockey Club since 1935. Each list is compiled for a hypothetical race for 2-year-olds in their division at 1 1/16 miles on dirt. To be eligible for weighting, a 2-year-old must have finished in the top four in a graded or listed stakes race.

Bred in Florida by Fred Brei’s Jacks Or Better Farm, Awesome Feather was undefeated in six starts last year, five of them stakes. On November 5th, Awesome Feather's championship campaigned culminated with a decisive victory in the $1.8 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). Earlier in the year, she became one of just four fillies in history to sweep the Florida Stallion Stakes Series at Calder Race Course.

The nation’s No. 6 Juvenile Sire in 2010 with progeny earnings just shy of $1.5 million, Awesome of Course has had exceptional results from limited opportunity. From just 26 named foals, he has 20 starters, 15 winners, and four stakes horses.
