Awesome of Course is Florida's leading 2-year-old sire of 2011, a title he also won in 2010 on the performance of undefeated Eclipse Champion Awesome Feather. Awesome Feather swept the filly division of the FSS before her impressive win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).
Redbud Road made a big move on the turn to set herself up for a winning move that put her in front near the top of the stretch. She completed the six furlongs on the sloppy track in 1:14.46.
Fort Loudon had a similar mid-pack trip to his stablemate, though he did have to go considerably wider on the turn and into the stretch. He made the front deeper in the lane but still went on to win by daylight in 1:13.55 for the six furlongs.
Both Redbud Road and Fort Loudon are owned and bred by Fred Brei's Jacks or Better Farm and are trained by Stanley Gold. Redbud Road is 3-1-0 in four starts, bankrolling $138,605, while Fort Loudon is 2-0-2 in five outings, tallying $77,580.
Redbud Road is out of the stakes winning mare Ladyinareddress, who is a half-sister to another of Journeyman's stallions, Hear No Evil. Fort Loudon is out of the $1.2 million earner Lottsa Talc, who won 16 stakes in her 65 lifetime starts.
