Beso Grande won her second straight stakes at Calder on June 11 when the 3-year-old daughter of Mass Media battled to a head victory in the $75,000 Leave Me Alone S. She took the $75,000 French Village S. slightly less than a month ago in her previous start.
The six furlong Leave Me Alone proved to be a stern test for Beso Grande; she tussled with three foes for the first half mile before pulling on even terms with Bessie M, who was on the lead around the turn. That paired dueled down the stretch with Beso Grande proving best in the final strides.
Beso Grande was bred in Florida by Bruce Tallisman. The filly is owned by Half Hollow and was trained by Stephen DiMauro. Consistent throughout her career, Beso Grande is now 4-2-3 in 10 starts, earning $231,492.
Mass Media's offspring have accounted for six stakes wins in 2011, tied for the most of any Florida stallion along with fellow Journeyman sire Wildcat Heir.
