Wildcat Heir's Black Diamond Cat got up in the shadow of the wire to grab the winner's share of the $75,000 Bob Umphrey Turf Sprint at Calder on July 4 (VIDEO). The race was transferred to the main track due to unsuitable turf conditions.

The 4-year-old earned his first career stakes victory and in the process put his sire Wildcat Heir atop the third-crop sire list with six stakes winners this year. The bay tracked outside the leaders before making a sustained stretch drive to grasp the top spot. The final time was a swift :58.55 seconds.

Black Diamond Cat has spent his entire 26 race career on the Florida circuit and has hit the board in 14 starts. He has earned $154,184 for Bluestone Thoroughbreds LLC. He was bred by Mike Eckman and Mark and Debbie Ravenscraft.
