A rousing finish from fifth to first in the final furlong put Bleu Darling in the winner's circle for the $50,000 Hallowed Dream S. at Evangeline Downs, giving the 3-year-old Saint Anddan filly her first career stakes win.
Saint Anddan is Florida second-ranked Second Crop Sire in terms of both earnings and winners, behind only fellow Journeyman Stud stallions Teuflesberg and Exclusive Quality, respectively.
More than half-way through the 5 1/2-furlong Hallowed Dreams, it appeared that Bleu Darling didn't have much chance. Stuck in sixth behind a wall of horses, she went very wide to get in the clear, and once nothing was in her path, she really got rolling to ultimately win by a length in 1:04.54.
Bleu Darling netted $30,000 for the win, upping her lifetime take to $104,209 with a mark of 3-1-1 in seven starts. Trained by Ron Faucheux for Brittlyn Stables, Bleu Darling also has a second-place finish in the $125,000 Premier Star S. at Delta Downs on Feb. 12 to her credit.
