Bwana Charlie to Journeyman Stud for 2008 breeding season

Bwana Charlie, a Grade 2 stakes winning son of top sire, Indian Charlie, is going to stand the 2008 breeding season at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud. Bwana Charlie is by Indian Charlie, the sire of Eclipse award winner, Fleet Indian, as well as Breeders Cup Juvenile filly winner and probable champion, Indian Blessing. Bwana Charlie is out of the Halo mare, Shahalo, who is also the dam of current graded stake winner Bwana Bull. 

Bwana Charlie won the Grade 2 Amsterdam Stakes at 3, defeating grade one stake winners Pomeroy and Mass Media as well as graded stake winners Weigelia and Smokume. In a 19 start career, Bwana Charlie won three other races including the Grade 3 Lafayette Stakes and earned $388,850. “Bwana Charlie is exactly the kind of horse who thrives in Florida,” said Brent Fernung, “He was a top class sprinter, has a solid pedigree and looks the part.” “His first crop are weanlings and they were very well received at the OBS October sale,” Fernung continued, “ “His ownership group of Bill Heligbrodt, Dennis Narlinger and Becky Thomas are committed to making this horse successful and the contributions they made in developing sires such as Posse, Successful Appeal and Officer are well documented.”  

Bwana Charlie had stood the previous 2 seasons at Thomas’ Sequel Stallions in Orange Lake, Florida. Bwana Charlie’s fee for 2008 will be $6,500.
