Champion Awesome Feather, the all-time leading earner by Awesome of Course, has been retired, it was announced on Dec. 13. Awesome of Course has four stakes winners this year that have accounted for 10 stakes wins, second-best among all Florida stallions.

As a 2-year-old, Awesome Feather capped a perfect six-for-six juvenile season for owner/breeder Jacks Or Better Farm and trainer Stanley Gold with a 2 1/4-length win in the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Churchill Downs. The stellar campaign earned her an Eclipse Award as Champion 2-year-old Filly.

Purchased by Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs Farm for $2.3 million two days after the Breeders' Cup, the Florida-bred filly continued her winning ways to capture the Grade 1 Gazelle S. at three and went on to annex Gulfstream Park's Florida Sunshine Millions Distaff S. this January and the Nasty Storm S. at Belmont Park in September.

"Working for Bobby (Frankel) I was around several of the Stronach’s best runners and Awesome Feather was right up there with the best of them," trainer Chad Brown recently commented. "She is truly special."

Awesome Feather retires with a record of 11-10-0-0 and earnings of $1,912,746. Breeding plans have not yet been finalized.
