Circular Quay's 2-year-old stakes-winning filly Verso a Verso was recently named the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association (FTBOA) 2012 divisional winner in the Chase to the Championship rankings. The FTBOA tracks Florida-breds throughout the year, with points awarded based on stakes and graded stakes performances.

The 2012 FTBOA Awards Dinner will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 in Ocala to honor 2012 Florida-bred champions their breeders, owners and trainers.

Verso a Verso emerged as a top 2-year-old filly to watch with an easy 2 3/4-length maiden score in her Aug. 16 debut, then solidified her credentials with a comfortable five-length win in the $300,000 Florida Stallion My Dear Girl S. on Oct. 13. The bay filly, who was bred by Brent and Crystal Fernung and Dr. Phil Matthews, went on to post a mark of 2-1-0 in four starts, earning $207,310.

Circular Quay was Florida's champion freshman sire of 2012, with Verso a Verso his leading earner. He is the only Florida first-crop stallion to sire a stakes winner in 2012, and his four repeat winners also topped that category. Circular Quay will stand the 2013 season at Journeyman Stud for $4,000 LFS&N.
