Circular Quay picked up his second winner from his first crop, when Pick It Up Peg broke her maiden first time out by 3 1/2 lengths in the first race today at Parx Racing.
A homebred racing for Gil Campbell, Pick It Up Peg broke fastest of all in the 4 1/2-furlong dash over the main track, and dueled the entire way before striding clear in the final furlong. Trained by the veteran Ned Allard, the Florida-bred chestnut was coupled in the wagering with stablemate Belle of the West, and the entry ran 1-2.
Out of the multiple stakes-placed mare Dreamadreamforme, Pick It Up Peg is from the foundation family of Broodmare of the Year Hildene.
Circular Quay now has two winners from six starters, and is Florida's second-leading freshman sire. Two weeks ago, one of his daughters topped the opening session of the OBS June Sale. Circular Quay stood the 2012 season at Journeyman Stud for $6,500 live foal.
