Cute N Sassy took a liking to the sloppy main track at Santa Anita to register a 2 3/4-length maiden win on March 25. Originally scheduled for the turf, the surface change didn't affect the 4-year-old filly by Consolidator, who came from last at the head of the stretch to strike the front about a furlong from the wire.
Cute N Sassy has never been off the board in four starts, with a record of 1-1-2 and earnings of $54,600. The chestnut filly was bred in Kentucky by Mt. Joy Stables and Pope McLean. The filly has been through the auction ring twice at Keeneland, most recently at the 2008 September yearling sale, where she brought $130,000. The previous year, she went for $50,000 as a weanling at the November breeding stock sale.
Consolidator is Florida's leading third-crop sire of winners, with 27 to date. He also ranks third on the same list in terms of earnings, a list topped by Journeyman's Wildcat Heir.
