Countercyclical devastated his foes Friday at Fair Grounds as the son of Circular Quay rolled to a 12 1/2-length maiden special weight victory going six furlongs, earning a gaudy 100 Beyer Speed Figure (VIDEO).

Countercyclical settled the outcome with a sudden burst at the top of the stretch. After dueling for the lead through a half-mile in :45.86, the chestnut speedster drew away with authority to stop the timer in 1:09.24.

Bred in Florida by Nick and Jaqui de Meric and Ralph Paticchio, Countercyclical is a half-brother to stakes-placed Dream of Atlantis and comes from the family of Grade 2 Pegasus S. winner Forty One Carats.

Circular Quay, who was Florida's leading Freshman Sire of 2012 and second on last year's Sophomore list, stands this year at Journeyman Stud for $2,500 LFS&N.
