A colt from the first crop of Cowtown Cat sold for $155,000 at the OBS Select 2-year-old sale on April 24, the second day of the April 23-26 event. The hammer price was nearly 40x Cowtown Cat's $4,000 stud fee for 2012.

Consigned by Costanzo Sales and cataloged as hip No. 529, the chestnut, named Shawtown, was bought by Luis Doco Stables, Inc. The Florida bred filly is out of Her She Shawklit, who was third in the Grade 1 John A. Morris H. She is the dam of seven winners, including millionaire and multiple graded stakes winner Crafty Shaw and the stakes winner Her She Kisses.

Cowtown Cat, who was a $1.5 million sales topper himself, won the Grade 2 Illinois Derby and Grade 3 Gotham S. His 2-year-olds have been well-received at auction this year, highlighted by $100,000 cot that sold at the OBS March sale.
