Dances With Ashley captured the $50,000 OBS Fillies Sprint S. on Feb. 15 during OBS’s Day of Champions program to become Wildcat Heir’s fourth stakes winner from his record-setting first crop.
Trained by Marty Wolfson, the speedy filly rallied from off the pace over the local synthetic surface to post a decisive 2 ½-length victory, running six furlongs in 1:10.40 and earning her first career stakes win. The strapping chestnut began her career with impressive back-to-back wins at Calder and now has three wins from four starts with earnings of $62,440 for owners Denholtz Stables.
Bred by Brambly Lane Farm & Steve Dwoskin, Dances With Ashley was sold a year ago at the OBS Feb. Select Sale for $125,000. She is the first foal to race out of the stakes-winning Sword Dance (Ire) mare Fast Lisa.
Dances With Ashley was one of Wildcat Heir’s world record-tying 39 juvenile winners in 2009. Wildcat Heir also led all sires in North America by 2-year-old winners.
