Leading Freshman and Juvenile Sire Wildcat Heir is not only getting an abundance of early winners, he’s getting them at some of racing’s most prestigious venues and at the highest level. On August 1st, the brilliant Grade 1-winning son of Forest Wildcat got his North American-leading thirteenth 2-year-old winner and added Del Mar to the impressive list of tracks his progeny have concurred thus far, as Lions Story – a colt – captured a $51,000 maiden special weight heat.

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, Lions Story showed good early speed while stalking the pace in the six-furlong race. In the stretch, the bay colt kicked clear from the field and scored a decisive 2 ¼-length win, stopping the timer in 1:10.78 over the local Polytrack.

Hollendorfer, who purchased the colt for $50,000 earlier this year at OBS, owns him along with John Carver and George Todaro. Lions Story owns a record of 1-1-0 from a pair of starts with earnings of $41,600. He is out of the stakes-producing Allen’s Prospect mare Julie’s Prospect and was bred in Florida by South Gate.

Wildcat Heir now stands atop the Juvenile Sires List and Freshman Sires List with progeny earnings of $383,968, and has winners at such tracks as Santa Anita, Hollywood, Del Mar, Calder, Gulfstream, Arlington, Woodbine, Monmouth and Colonial Downs.
