Exclusively Maria battled to a neck victory in the $100,000 Cassidy S. Oct. 1 at Calder to give her sire Exclusive Quality stakes winner number one from his first crop of foals. The Journeyman Stud stallion is third on Florida's freshman sire list with over $225,000 in progeny earnings.

The six furlong Cassidy was the second straight stakes start for Exclusively Maria, who was third in her added money debut, the $74,000 Catcharisingstar S., also at Calder, on Aug. 27. Breaking from the rail in the Cassidy, the bay filly sped to the front to open up by 1 1/2-lengths after a quarter mile. She met a pair of challenges in deep stretch, but held sway to get the distance in 1:12.80.

Bred in Florida by David Wylie Perkins, Exclusively Maria is now 2-0-3 in five starts, earning $98,258 for owner Sherry Parbhoo.
