Things couldn't have gotten off to a better start for Journeyman's Mass Media after the sire's first two runners finished one-two in a maiden special weight contest for 2-year-old fillies at Calder on May 15.
Miss Sarah Brown was the 1 1/4-length winner in the 4 1/2-furlong contest, while Luna Grande was second, some 5 1/4-lengths in front of the third place finisher. The top two ran in that order for the entire race, with the final time of :53.67 seconds.
Miss Sarah Brown is owned by Elder Breds, Inc. (also the breeder) and Martha Fisher. The win was worth $28,200. Miss Sarah Brown is out of Peregrine Dove, who has two foals that earned in excess of $100,000. She is trained by Larry Bates.
Luna Grande races in the name of Mauricio Fuentes and is trained by Herman Wilensky. She is out of Dream Lady Dream, who won 12 races and earned nearly $175,000.
