First winner for Exclusive Quality

Journeyman Stud’s Exclusive Quality sired his first winner on June 25, when Exclusively Maria won a $40,000 maiden special weight at Calder by six lengths..

The Florida-bred filly broke first and never looked back en route to a 6-length triumph under J. L. Alvarez. Exclusively Maria sped the first quarter in a swift :22.2, and was already 2 ¼ lengths clear of her nearest rival. She extended her lead to 5 in the stretch, and was all alone at the wire, stopping the clock in :53.17 for 4 ½ furlongs.

Out of the winning, producing Cure the Blues mare Going Away Blues, Exclusively Maria was bred by David Wylie Perkins, and sold at the 2010 OBS August yearling sale to Wesley Ward, agent. Now owned by Sherry Parbhoo and trained by Bisnath Parbhoo, Exclusively Maria has amassed a record of 3-1-0-2 and earnings of $30,008.

Exclusive Quality has 76 named two-year-olds in his first crop, with a win and four placings from three starters. He ranks among Florida’s top three freshman sires of 2011 by progeny earnings. A record-setting stakes winner by Elusive Quality out of First Glimmer, by Glitterman, Exclusive Quality is standing the 2011 season for $4,000 live foal.
