Journeyman Stud's Mass Media, Florida's fourth leading freshman sire, added another winner to his growing list on Oct. 20 with Silken Bid's victory in a maiden race at Hawthorne Racecourse. Mass Media also ranks second among all first-crop Florida stallions in terms of stakes horses.

Silken Bid, a 2-year-old chestnut colt, was a gate-to-wire winner in the six furlong event on the main track, winning by a neck as the 1-2 favorite.

Silken Bid was bred in Florida by Carol Hershe and Kathie Haines and is owned by Silken Stable.

From 18 starters to date, Mass Media already has nine winners, a rate of 50%, which is best among Florida's top 5 freshman stallions.
