Fort Loudon, the 3-year-old colt by Awesome of Course, finished 2012 as the runaway winner in his division of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association (FTBOA) Chase to the Championship rankings. The FTBOA tracks Florida-breds throughout the year, with points awarded based on stakes and graded stakes performances.
Fort Loudon, owned by his breeder, Fred Brei's Jacks or Better Farm, won or placed in an impressive six stakes in 2012. His win in the Carry Back S. (G3) in June at Calder, when he earned a 101 Beyer Speed Figure, highlighted a year that also included wins in the $75,000 In Summation S. and $75,000 Unbridled S. He finished 2012 with a record of 3-3-0 in 11 starts, earning $384,638.
The 2012 FTBOA Awards Dinner will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 in Ocala to honor 2012 Florida-bred champions their breeders, owners and trainers.
On the strength of Fort Loudon's performance, Awesome of Course's progeny earnings in 2012 topped $1 million. His four stakes winners accounted for 10 stakes wins last year, second-best among all Florida stallions. He will stand the 2013 season at Journeyman Stud for $7,500 LFS&N.
