The strength of family for Journeyman Stud’s Bwana Charlie continues to get better and better, as his most recent successful sibling, My Pal Charlie, claimed an impressive 4 1/4-length victory in the $515,000 Super Derby (G2) on Sept. 20 at Louisiana Downs.

The win by My Pal Charlie - a full-brother to Bwana Charlie - gives the dam Shahalo, by Halo, her third graded stakes-winning 3-year-old in the last four years. She has also produced Bwana Bull, a top sophomore of 2007 and winner of the El Camino Real Derby (G3) and California Derby.

Bwana Charlie and My Pal Charlie are both by red-hot sire Indian Charlie, a leading sire in 2008 and top commercial sire.
