Evil Queen made her graded stakes debut in the $200,000 Forward Gal S. (G2) Jan. 30 at Gulfstream Park, and the 3-year-old daughter of Hear No Evil rewarded her connections with an excellent third-place finish.
The seven furlong Forward Gal annually brings out some of the top sophomore fillies, and this year's renewal was no exception, with Grade 1 winner R Heat Lightning and Grade 2 winner Dancinginherdreams in the starting gate. Once the latches sprang, Evil Queen was content to sit last of seven for the first half-mile. She made up ground around the turn and continued her run in the stretch, winding up about four lengths from the top spot while gamely holding off R Heat Lightning for the show.
Evil Queen is owned by her breeder Jacks or Better Farm Inc. Evil Queen is out of Duchess d'Or, a half-sister to seven-time stakes winner Tour the Hive.
In 10 starts, Evil Queen has hit the board seven times, earning $83,344.
