First-crop sire Exclusive Quality logged winner number five on Sept. 4 when Howelling Wind broke his maiden first time out going 5 1/2-furlongs on Calder's main track. Exclusive Quality is Florida's fourth-ranked freshman sire and is represented by the stakes placed filly Exclusively Maria.

Howelling Wind dueled for the lead through the first quarter mile, then took over the top spot and went on to win by 1 3/4-lengths.

Howelling Wind is named for his owner David Howell, who bred the bay colt, in partnership with Herman Wilensky, in Florida. Howelling Wind is the first foal out of Temporary Wind, who hit the board in 10 of 12 starts.
