Hear No Evil's Grade 1 son Jackson Bend gave another good account of himself in the Grade 3 Skip Away S. (VIDEO) April 3 at Gulfstream Park, finishing a clear second in the 1 3/16 mile contest. The 4-year-old has been a model of consistency throughout his career, winning four stakes at Calder as a 2-year-old, then running second in both the Fountain of Youth (G2) and Wood Memorial (G2) and third in the Preakness (G1) at three.

Breaking from the No. 11 post under Jeffrey Sanchez, Jackson Bend rated behind S.S. Stone into the stretch of the Skip Away, pushing the winner to the wire while finishing a length ahead of Colizeo, who was third.

“He ran good. I’m disappointed he didn’t win, but I’m happy.” trainer Stanley Gold said. “If I had to picked a post position, I wouldn’t have picked the 11, but there are advantages to being on the outside. We overcame it and finished second.”

Jackson bend is owned by Robert LaPenta and Jacks or Better Farm Inc., the latter who bred the colt in Florida. He is now 5-5-1 in 16 starts, for earnings of 857,950.
