Journeyman Bloodstock wound up as the leading consignor at the three-day OBS Winter Mixed Sale which concluded on Jan. 18.  Crystal and Brent Fernung, as agent, sold 33 horses for $720,600, easily best among the 86 sales consignors.

After the final horse - Hip No. 968 - went through the ring late Friday afternoon, Journeyman had accounted for the top three prices of the sale (two yearlings and one broodmare) and six of the top 18.

The sale-topper was Hip No. 151, a yearling chestnut colt by the sensational young sire Posse, out of the Native Prospector mare Navarro Rose. The young racing prospect sold to Josham Farms for $95,000. The second highest price of the sale was the $90,000 paid by Frank Stronach's Adena Springs to acquire Hip No. 112, Kabeeb, an 8-year-old stakes-winning mare by Labeeb in foal to Bandini. In third place was Hip No. 99, a Malibu Moon colt from the family of multiple graded stakes-winner Mademoiselle Forli, who sold for $75,000 to Pick Six Thoroughbreds.

“We did well in what appeared to be a very tough market,” Journeyman's Brent Fernung said, “Journeyman has never actively sold as a public agency until now, so we were excited to do so well for a variety of clients.”
