Karmageddon earned her first win of the year and third lifetime stakes in Saturday's $60,000 Jersey Girl S., coming up the rail to pull away to a 2 3/4-length win.
The 4-year-old daughter of Wildcat Heir was midpack for most of the 1 1/16 mile trip, then slipped through on the inside to make the front at the top of the stretch. The final time was 1:45.36 on the fast track.
“As soon as the gates opened she stumbled a little bit,” said winning jockey Angel Serpa. “After that I just took a hold and sat patiently with her. I waited on the fence the whole way and when the rail opened up turning for home we just shot through.”
Owned and bred by Headless Horsemen Racing Stable, Karmageddon has now banked $278,226 for connections. Her previous stakes wins came in the $60,000 New Jersey Juvenile in 2009 and the $84,000 Princeton S. in 2010.
Wildcat Heir is ranked second Florida's general sire list and fifth in the nation among third-crop stallions.
