Leap Year Luck, a 2-year-old bay filly by Journeyman Stud stallion Hear No Evil, gave her connections yet another reason to celebrate. Fred and Jane Brei's Jacks Or Better homebred won the $92,250 House Party Stakes on Saturday, November 29, at Gulfstream Park West (Race Video). It was the second consecutive stakes win and third on the season for the precocious filly trained by Stanley Gold.

In what has become her patented style, Leap Year Luck settled in at the back of the 10-horse field. She moved up steadily, circling the field and moving into fourth at the top of the stretch. Then she launched her determined rally, pulling away to win by a length and a half. Fractions for the six-furlong test were a brisk :22.22, :45.53, :58.46 with Leap Year Luck stopping the clock in 1:12.27.

Out of the Awesome of Course mare Lucky of Course, Leap Year Luck won the $100,000 Juvenile Filly Sprint Stakes on November 8 and the $110,000 Florida Sire Stakes' Desert Vixen Stakes on August 9 at Gulfstream Park. She was also third in the Susan's Girl Stakes of the FSS on September 6. In seven career starts, Leap Year Luck has posted three wins, all stakes, one second and one third for seasonal earnings to date of $221,009.

Hear No Evil, a multiple stakes winner of $599,415, is also a Jacks Or Better homebred and stands as property of that farm at Journeyman Stud. In addition to Leap Year Luck, Hear No Evil is also represented this season by stakes winners Sing Praises and Best Plan Yet, as well as by graded-stakes place Grade I millionaire Jackson Bend. Hear No Evil has progeny earnings to date of $1,120,862. He is currently the third-leading Florida juvenile sire with progeny earnings of $715,589.
