Manicero keeps on winning at Tampa Bay Downs, setting a track record while scoring his third straight stakes win at the Florida oval during the current meet. The latest victory for the 3-year-old son of Mass Media came April 9 in the $75,000 Ocala Breeders' Sale Sophomore S. at seven furlongs.

Mass Media is Florida's fourth-ranked second-crop sire this year. In 2010, he was third on the freshman sire list at year's end from a crop of 49 foals, half the number of the top 2 sires.

Manicero put in a strong stretch run in the OBS Sophomore, coming from third on the turn to get the lead about a furlong from the wire. He drew away late to win by 1 1/2-lengths in a time of 1:22.13, a new low for the seven furlongs.

Trained by Leo Azpurua, Jr. for his father Leo, Sr., Manicero was bred in Florida by Roberto Sanson. The dark bay is now 5-0-0 in seven starts, earning $234,008. Four of his wins have come in stakes: the Pasco S. and Inaugural S. at Tampa, and the $125,000 Jack Price Juvenile S. at Calder.
