Mass Media became the first Florida Freshman this year to sire a stakes winner, when Alert the Press charged to a decisive victory in the Capitol City Futurity on July 18th.

The undefeated son of Mass Media has now won both his career starts by 11 combined lengths. Even more impressive, Alert the Press first broke his maiden on July 10, and came back just eight days later to win the stakes. Despite hitting the side of the gate at the break, Alert the Press quickly assumed command, and had a 3-length lead at the first quarter. At the finish, he was 5 ¼ lengths clear of seven rivals in the Lincoln Downs event.

Alert the Press was bred in Florida by Cheryl Hurn, and races for his owner/trainer Rodney Davis.

Mass Media is now Florida’s second-leading Freshman Sire by earnings, and America’s #8 Freshman Sire. He also ranks first among all Florida juvenile sires by percent of winners from starters with 2 or more runners (57%).
