Not an Altar Boy, a 2-year-old from the first crop of Teuflesberg, broke his maiden July 24 at River Downs in his second lifetime outing. The bay showed his quality in his debut when he was runner-up in the $50,000 Hoover S. two weeks ago at the southern Ohio track.

The winner was third for most of his victory in the 5 1/2-furlong contest, forging to the lead in the final furlong to win by a half length.

Bred in Ohio by Bridle Breezes LLC, Not an Altar Boy is now 1-1-0 in two starts, earning $14,400. He is the third winner, tops among all Florida freshman stallions, for his Grade 2-winning sire, who also won the Sugar Bowl S. at Fair Grounds and was second in the Grade 2 Sanford S. as a juvenile.
