One Firm Cat takes to Santa Anita downhill turf course

One Firm Cat, already stakes-placed, broke his maiden on Santa Anita's downhill turf course to give Cowtown Cat his ninth winner from his first crop.

Cowtown Cat is Florida's leading freshman sire of winners and is ranked in the top 15 nationally with $254,417 in progeny earnings.

One Firm Cat came from seventh after a quarter mile with a four-wide move into the stretch to win by  a widening length and a half. The winner covered the 6 1/2-furlongs in 1:13.12.

Bred in Florida, One Firm Cat went through the auction ring four times, most recently at Barretts in May, where the dark bay was bought for $30,000 by his trainer Peter Miller. One Firm Cat is 1-1-1 in three starts, with a second-place finish in the $107,995 Barretts Juvenile S. to his credit.
