Cowtown Cat is Florida's leading freshman sire of winners and is ranked in the top 15 nationally with $254,417 in progeny earnings.
One Firm Cat came from seventh after a quarter mile with a four-wide move into the stretch to win by a widening length and a half. The winner covered the 6 1/2-furlongs in 1:13.12.
Bred in Florida, One Firm Cat went through the auction ring four times, most recently at Barretts in May, where the dark bay was bought for $30,000 by his trainer Peter Miller. One Firm Cat is 1-1-1 in three starts, with a second-place finish in the $107,995 Barretts Juvenile S. to his credit.
