Wildcat Heir got his second stakes winner of the week on Saturday when the filly Ramona's Wildcat cruised to a 9 1/2-length victory in the $50,000 El Paso Times H. at Sunland Park (VIDEO
It was the second win in as many starts for the 3-year-old sophomore who broke her maiden in similarly dominating fashion Dec. 8 at Sunland.
Much like she did in her debut, Ramona's Wildcat assumed command right out of the gate, controlled the pace for a half mile in a very quick :44.33, then with a sudden burst put away the field. She completed the 6 1/2-furlongs in 1:15.83.
Ramona's Wildcat was purchased by her trainer out of the 2013 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale, where he paid $125,000 for the filly who he owns in partnership with Patrick Montoya and Blue Snow Racing Stables. Georgia Farms bred Ramona's Wildcat out of the Indian Charlie mare Pretty Indian, who has produced five foals, all winners. She is a half-sister to stakes winners Color of Smoke and Cousins Lew.
Besides Ramona's Wildcat, Wildcat Heir's 3-year-old colt Hot Heir Skier took the $100,000 Jimmy Winkfield S. at Aqueduct on Monday, just two of the five winners by the perennial leading Florida sire for the week.
