Another Romance takes the G3 Azalea S.

Another Romance's 1 3/4-length victory in the $150,000 Azalea S.[VIDEO]  July 7 at Calder gave her sire Saint Anddan his first graded stakes winner. The Journeyman stallion is Florida's leading second crop sire with 20 winners and is also first in progeny earnings with $763,561.

The Azalea was a stakes double of sorts for Journeyman as Redbud Road, who finished a strong third to Another Romance, is by Awesome of Course, the sire of Fort Loudon, winner of the Carry Back S. (G3), also at Calder on Saturday.

Another Romance was far back during the early stages of the Azalea, for 3-year-old fillies, but when the pacesetters started to tire, Another Romance pounced, charging up the rail to prevail in 1:12.02 for six furlongs.

The win was the third straight for Another Romance, and her second straight stakes triumph, having won the $75,000 Leave Me Alone S. in her last outing. She is owned by Lewis Pell, Michael Eigner, Pinnacle Racing Stables, et al.

“There was more speed in the race this time, but it set up very much like her last race,” winning rider Luca Panici said. “With her, you have to see the right way to move her to get through, but when she gets going, she is a lot of horse.”

Another Romance has now hit the board in 10 of 15 lifetime starts and earned $231,195.
