Saint Anddan's magic touch with the fillies

Journeyman Stud first year stallion Saint Anddan has had an amazing first year with his juvenile fillies, with eight of his nine winners coming from the female ranks. The string continued on Oct. 2 when Off the Shelf won a stretch-long battle to break her maiden by a nose at Calder.

Florida-bred Off the Shelf didn't get a chance to run in her sprint debut on Sept. 9, but stretched out to two turns, she moved to the front just after the start and despite being pressured the entire 1 mile and 70 yards, she was able to hold on for the win.

Off the Shelf is a half-sister to Enumerate, who was second in the Grade 2 Sanford S. at Saratoga and placed in three other stakes as well. Off the Shelf is owned by Mike Galinski, who bred her in partnership with Allen Amato.
