Cowtown Cat, Florida's leading freshman sire, had his second winner on May 18 when Pochitoque broke his maiden at the Hipodromo de las Americas in Mexico City.
The colt was consigned and sold at last year's Keeneland September yearling sale. He is out of the Chief Seattle mare Call Me Chief, whose two previous foals are both winners, including the stakes-placed colt Revoluta. Call Me Chief is a half-sister to $2 million earner Commentator, two-time winner of the Grade 1 Whitney H. and six other black-type events.
Cowtown Cat, who is standing this year for $4,000 at Journeyman Stud, has had four 2-year-old bring six-figure prices during the spring auction season, and with an average sale price for all juveniles at auction of $49,083, nearly 12x his stud fee.
