Exclusive Quality's 3-year-old colt Summer Exclusive turned in a sharp-looking effort in his first lifetime start Saturday at Santa Anita, beating a full field of sophomore maiden special weight types going 6 1/2-furlongs (VIDEO).

The Florida-bred bay colt pressed the early pace, then quickly kicked clear after straightening for home to ultimately prevail by a length in a quick 1:15.88. The time earned a very solid 84 Beyer Speed Figure on the fast track.

Summer Exclusive is one of 17 winners already by his sire this year, giving him more than twice as many winners as any other Florida third-crop sire. With $445,563, Exclusive Quality sits atop that list and ranks fourth on Florida's General Sire list.

Trainer Peter Miller bought Summer Exclusive at the 2012 OBS April 2-year-olds in training sale, signing the ticket for $82,000 for a partnership that includes Altima Racing.
