Trinniberg faced the toughest 2-year-old colts on the East Coast in the $250,000 Hopeful S. (G1) at Saratoga on Sept. 5, and he proved that he belongs with the best of his generation (VIDEO).

Going to the front soon after the start of the seven furlong race, the son of Teuflesberg made all the running until he was caught in the final strides by eventual winner Currency Swap. The top two separated themselves from the rest of the competition; it was 3 3/4-lengths back to the third place finisher.

“Shoot, I thought we’d get it,” said Bisnath Parboo, Trinniberg's trainer. “But that’s racing. I think he needed the experience of the mud. I think he’ll run better going shorter than longer.”

Trinniberg is now 1-1-0 in three starts, earning $71,300.

Trinniberg is the second stakes horse for Teuflesberg; Not an Altar Boy finished second in the $50,000 Hoover S. at River Downs in July. Teuflesberg is currently ranked sixth on Florida's freshman sire list.
