Trinniberg primed for Breeders' Cup Sprint

Trinniberg will add blinkers for the first time as the 3-year-old son of Teuflesberg aims to take home the trophy in the $1.5 million Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) on Saturday, Nov. 3.

A multiple graded stakes winner at seven furlongs, Trinniberg has ironically not won at the Sprint's six furlong distance despite his abundant natural speed. The dark bay colt wired the field each time earlier this year in the Swale S. (G3), Bay Shore S. (G3), and Woody Stephen S. (G2), all at seven panels.

Trinniberg showed a new dimension in his most recent start, coming from slightly off the pace in the $300,000 Gallant Bob S. Sept. 22 at Parx, beaten just a half-length and posting a 105 Beyer Speed Figure.

Trinninberg has never started at Santa Anita, but has posted two very quick four furlong works there in the last two weeks. Veteran regular rider Willie Martinez has the return call when the team breaks from post 9 in the field of 14.
