Journeyman Stud’s leading freshman sire Wildcat Heir has caught fire with his first crop of runners to hit the racetrack, as the Grade 1-winning son of Forest Wildcat has already been represented by a pair of first-out 2-year-old winners from his first two starters.

On April 3rd, Convoy Ahead became Wildcat Heir’s second winner after breaking on top and cruising to a length win in a 2 ½-furlong, $42,000 maiden special weight heat at Gulfstream Park. Trained by Wesley Ward for owner Ray Sainz, the colt stopped the timer in 27.80. Thoroughbred Management, LLC bred Convoy Ahead in Florida.

Wildcat Heir’s first winner was Kitty in the Bag, a filly who impressed with a 3 ¼-length maiden special weight win at Santa Anita two days prior on April 1st.
