Champion Sire Wildcat Heir got his 15th career stakes winner, when Wild Bout Tiffany took her field gate to wire in the $75,000 U Can Do It Stakes at Calder June 9.
The bay filly from her sire's second crop showed speed from the outset under Manuol Cruz, and led her field along the rail for the first half-mile of the six-furlong event. Coming into the stretch, Wild Bout Tiffany was tackled by Grade1 filly Indulgence, but put that one away and hung tough when tackled once again by the late closing stakes winner Flying Trip. Margin at the finish was a scant neck.
Trained by William Kaplan for breeders Teresa and David Palmer, Wild Bout Tiffany brought her career record to 19-7-4-1 and $212,120 with this inaugural stakes performance.
Wildcat Heir is Florida's #1 Sire this season, with five stakes horses and earners of well over $1,900,000 through the second weekend of June. He was Florida's Leading General Sire of 2010 and 2011, and is North America's all-time Leading Sire of 2-Year-Old winners, with 39. The son of Forest Wildcat out of Penniless Heiress, by Pentelicus is standing the 2012 season at Journeyman Stud for $10,000 live foal.
