Florida’s Leading Freshman Sire Wildcat Heir became the first freshman sire in North America to reach 20 winners from his debut crop on Sept. 24th when his 2-year-old colt Wild Dixie Cat won a maiden special weight race at first-asking.
A bay colt campaigned by trainer Jeff Runco for New Farm – which also campaigned Wildcat Heir during his illustrious racing career, Wild Dixie Cat flashed great speed from the gates and took the field of 10 wire-to-wire in the 4 ½-furlong heat at Charles Town, winning by three-parts of a length. He stopped the clock in 52.17 seconds over a fast local main track.
Wild Dixie Cat was bred by his owner in New Jersey from the Dixieland Band mare Dixie Probe.
