First-time starter Greatful Heir rolled to a 3 3/4-length victory going five furlongs at Monmouth Park on June 26. The daughter of Wildcat Heir, a top-five third-crop sire, zipped the distance in a lively :57.94 seconds over a fast track.
Bred in Florida by Scott Alan Lackey, Greatful Heir is the fifth winner out of Sister Greeley, who won three of her six starts. Greatful Heir is a half-sister to the stakes placed filly Missunitednations.
Greatful Heir has been through the auction ring twice, most recently as a yearling Fasig-Tipton July Summer sale, where she brought $45,000. She is owned by J and J Stables and Jeremiah Kane and is trained by Ben Perkins, Jr.
Wildcat Heir finished 2010 as Florida's leading sire and America's No. 2 second-crop sire. He is Florida's leading sire of stakes winners in 2011.
