Journeyman Stud's freshman sire Mass Media recorded his fourth maiden special winner from just six starters, when Rivrav wired the field for a two-length victory at Arlington Park on July 15. The Florida-bred beat a group of eight 2-year-olds in a swift :59 2/5 for five furlongs over Arlington's Polytrack surface.

Rivrav was making his second lifetime start after checking in third, following a troubled trip, in his June 10 debut. This time around, the Larry Rivelli trainee would have no problems. He came out of the gate flying, quickly going up by three lengths by the time he hit the turn. The margin got as much as six lengths before he was allowed to coast home in the late stages.

Mass Media has turned out to be one of Florida's hottest first-year sires; he is the leading Florida Juvenile Sire by percent of winners from starters (67%!) of all sires with more than two winners. He ranks among the top three nationwide in the same category, and ranks third among Florida freshman by earnings. His four winners place him behind just three Florida juvenile sires, very impressive considering each of the horses ranked above him has at least 100 foals in this crop.

Rivrav has now earned $18,880 for owner Richard Ravin. The colt is out of the Numerous mare Deceitful Darling, who has three foals, all of whom are winners.
